92 MX3 1.8 V6 has done 118,000 miles. £695 Should I buy?

Post by daryl »

Hi,

I found a nice looking MX3 for £695

Its a UK 1992, k reg 1.8 V6

Black

But it has done 118,000 miles

I'm planning on doing a KLZE swap in the summer anyway.

Is it worth it?

Or is there likely to be too many problems with it, due to the high milage?

I was just thinking that if I'm swapping the engine out anyway, so what if it has done 118,000 miles.

Your Educated opinions please, Its just come on the market and its probably going to sell quick.

118K is nothing to worry about. I have almost 150k on my k8 and i beat the piss out of her almost every day. That seems like an extremely good price. I am not sure how much that is in dollars. But i wouldnt bat an eye to pay $1000 bucks for an mx-3 in good condition with that mileage.

I'd say for the money its a good buy. My 96 with 75k was 1600 quid. If you are doing a swap then it don't matter anyway. With the salt on the roads here its the corrossion you have to worry about. Get the wheels off and look at the brakes, shocks, CV boots and the underside. Also check around top of windscreen for lifting and rust (which I've got!) ,accident damage and bodged repairs (which I've also got!) , seals or evidence of sunroof leakge on the headlining and feel the carpets (or lift if poss) for dampness, and wheels arches etc. Take it somewhere u can go real slow and have full lock on and you'll be able to tell if the driveshafts are ok as well as the power steering rack. Obviously if it had some service history it would be good so you could tell when the last cambelt change etc was.

But the short answer is as long as it feels and looks ok, has Tax n MOT.. YES.... 695 quid? BUY IT!
