Register your interest in Big Brake Kit V6 models

Post by garfy1981 »

As is says above, im taking my car to a brake company not too far from myself, they have agreed to put together some plans to make a kit for the mx-3.

The estimated cost of a big brake conversion and 4 pot caliper kit is £700-£750.

They will also make up plans for a big rotor kit using the OEM calipers this is projected at somewhere around £300-350.

Of course the above prices are subject to change, the CAD plans will take a couple of days to make using my car, and the kit will then take about 4 weeks to develop from there. So estimated availability is April...ish.

I know willwood do a big brake kit, but by the time this is shipped over from the states i would be looking at £900-£950.

Being close to our european mx ers, the kit shouldnt cost a forture to be sent across either.

Just register your interest below, and i will keep the forum upto date with its progression.

Cheers.

I would like to see more of the kit before I decide. If it's good, there will be alot of european mx-ers interested, but most of them don't visit this site very often. You could better post in there forums:

will visit the sites posted, cheers

£300-£350 = $523-$613
£700-£750 = $1221-$1308

I dont think the U.S guys will see a saving, but for us brits and europeans the money will be made on shipping, as a kit from the u.s costs $250 to get over here.

Interested in the big rotor kit. Would you need to change wheels to accommodate or would the 15 inch ones still fit?

i had the standard 15" wheels on mine and garage were concerned about clearance, im now on 17 inch rims.
Best way for me to answer will be to see if i can get my old 15" rims back on after conversion. I keep you posted.

http://www.precisionbrakes.com has a bigbrake kit (actually several), with 325mm discs, dynalite 4-pot calipers etc. for $1500 including shipping.
Brackets etc. is included.

Just thought you`d like to know.
Oh, and that price is for 4-10 day shipping.
it`ll be about $80 USD cheaper for slow shipping.

they were, and still are in way my first choice. I was just trying to find a UK based company to save the hasstle of shipping and customs and then delays on spares for the future.
But still relevant to the post so cheers.

hello mate, well looks like we have got a good interest in the kit, so cant see why the company wont produce the kit.
The company still needs my car for the day, they work mon-fri and I also work mon-fri. So i would have to take a day off to get it to them.
I have got a holiday coming up 17th -24th April. So im going to get it to them then.
Sorry i havent pulled my finger out on this one.
On a side not my front calipers have now started to get stuck, so i need the kit done asap now !!!. So i cant really put off the conversion now.
