strut / shock mount question!

Post by Legato626 »

Sense x-mess is over and I am starting to get the cash flow back I am going to do my suspention. What I am asking is for better struts and shocks i am planing to replace my bad mounts with new ones. Is it ok just to use a new per of stock mounts or should I go to a better set? And for dust boots would stock ones work fine or are there better ones I should go with?

I am going to be using tokico blue's and H&R springs.

may i suggest the ZX2 S/R struts over the Blues. They offer better valving, are designed with a shorter shaft stroke for lowering springs and all 4 can be bought for the price of 2 Blues.

I used the S/R struts and MX3 H&R springs on my Protege for awhile for autox and they worked very well together.

I can get the blues for $87 bucks each. but i want to stay with the stock style because were i live. I dont want to get this car any lower. And for the mounts mazda dealer wanted to charge me $70/each for the rear and $76/each for the front!!! Went to checkers it was like $40 bucks for each.

that $160 price is for all 4, not each.

the shorter shaft stroke does not lower the car. The perch is still in the same position as stock. It just allows the strut to have a better working range, and not be constantly at or near the bump stop limits. The upper perches are identical, for the exception of a slightly larger hole for the thrust bearing. Mazda shaft is 20mm, the ZX2 shaft is 22mm.
