Strut Tower Bar question.

Post by JYOUNYA1 »

Do Strut Tower bars really work? I purchased some a while ago and can't tell the difference...except for how annoying it is to get to the spark plugs at the back to the engine bay.

Seriously, it may depend on the bar you got, I got some round a-- ractive one and i only notice it through low speed cornering.

Upper srtut bars were my first suspension upgrade and I noticed quite a difference in body roll at any corner speed. A great cheap upgrade.
(I use the CorkSport upper bars)

Strut bars do nothing for body roll. They stiffen the chassis and reduce flex and inherent camber/caster changes under hard load.

With soft street springs or few susp. mods, tower bars don't offer a whole lot, but when the susp. has more mods they become more benficial.

Sway bars will offer much more benefit, even with a stock suspension.

I agree and I have the CorkSport onces as well. I too it was my first suspension upgrade and the improvement was very siginifant, even with the stock, original suspension. It was enough that I missed it when I did the KLZE swap since it had to be removed until we figured out how to get it to clear the intake manifold. At the begining I drove with just the front for several weeks until i had a change to modify the interior to accomoditate the rear strut bar. Although I have both the front and the rear, the rear made little difference for me. Sway bars?
