This why NOT to buy cheap ebay coilovers.

Post by Custommx3 »

A friend of mine after I warned him not to decided to get these ebay coilovers.

To imagine the ride.. It was like riding on crappy springs and no struts at all.

Heres some pictures so you can see the comparison.

If you look at their pictures on ebey they look good. I didn't expect it to be that small. That is not for MX-3, it is for this car.... http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=47924

The main reason why you dont use them is the handling. Remember they are not attached to the strut/shock so think how it would feel with it moving around alot down there. You take a few nice hard turns and you are going to ahve some issues. They put so much ware on the strus/shocks and the handling is just crap. My wife has them on her car and they just have a crappy ride and they make alot of weird sounds most of the time.

Are you suggesting that it's bad to use coilovers all together?

Nope...

The CHEAP ones.

Ground control's are the only ones I'd buy. They use Eibach springs.

Is this your 1st lowered car?

Good springs do not bounce. Ive used Intrax, Jamex, and Suspension techniques on all 3 of the mx-3's Ive owned. A local guy put those on his car and I rode in it, and it bounced like it had no shocks, just bouncy springs.
