KL-ZE in a 4cyl MX-3

Hi, is it possible to put a KL-ZE into a 4cyl MX-3, I'm kinda new to mechanic and am looking for a MX-3, I will certainly swap the motor with some friends of mine cause the V6 obviously doesn't give enough HP. I'd like to know if I can swap it on a 4 Cyl so I wouldn't have to pay more for an engine I wouldn't use anyway.

Also, are all the pieces of the 4 Cyl MX-3 similar to the V6 ones? (except the motor I mean...)

Thanks in advance

From my understaning, after searching around, I believe you might have to change like axles, or something. I cant remember but if you use the search fuction you are garaunteed to find what i was talking about. Oh and you have to change gearbox/clutch. ANd ECU and VAF.

I never heard about the B6 before coming on this forum... Is it the best swap option for the 4 cyl MX-3? I mean, the one which requires the less modifications?

Also, what kind of performance does the B6 gives compared to the KL-ZE.
Also, what are the prices ranges for both of them
I heard the KL-ZE could be found for 1.8K$CAN

Thanks in advance

Well the b6 if you get that go turbo. but if im correct i think the b6 is alot slower than the bp. so go bpt. which can be found in gtrs?? Ford Escorts GT.
The KLZE i think would be a more expensive job due to the fact your going from B- series engine to K-series. You will be replacing alot of stuff. Both are rated ~200hp. Cost wise a B6t/bpt would be more efficient. Best bang for the buck. But its a question of reliability ,etc..etc...big debate...sort of like vdubbers debating on a 1.8t vs vr6. Pretty miuch same debate ( weight, handling, cost, reliability).

I ditched my K series v6 for a BPt. (1.8L turbo) only b/c I had the motor and hook ups @ a j/y for all the parts needed.

for going from the I4 to the v6 you need all the mounts, subframe, axles, ecu, wiring harness (dash plugs are the same thankfully) motor itself, tranny, half shaft, all the accessories, radiator from teh v6, electronic speedo sensor, 94+ cluster for the electric speedo, linkage.... the list goes on and on.

I know that there is a conversion list on here on the site from the main page... you might try looking that up if your serious about the v6.

If I were you, I'd go with the BPT... minimal work in your B6, and well worth the power gains. Just search there is plenty of crap about this.

Thanks for your quick answers.

Let's compare a Stock 4 Cyl to a Stock 6 cyl ( both MX-3 )

what are the different pieces? I mean, what does the B and K series include.
Does a K serie MX-3 gets a better suspension? Does it get a stronger rad?, etc.

Thanks a lot
Peace out

the v6 mx (GS) comes with rear disc, that were optional on the 4 banger (RS)

the GS is said to have a slighly more rigid body (heard that one somewhere... no idea how much thought)

GS has a wider track by 30mm or something like that.

GS has factory spoiler on the rear, and the rear tie bar.

I know that there is more, thats all I can think of off hand right now.

I am not really an MX-3 expert as of yet, but I do know my BP and my protege/323's well.

Basically to swap from a 4cl to a v6, you'll need a front clip as a donor
and vice versa.
