V6 to 4cyl

Post by GQ084 »

Ive searched up and down this freaking website. I saw one post mentioning it but doesnt go into details, more like "why would you want to do that".
Now when you see this , you say why in the world...
Well heres my rationality:
According to websites and posts - i.e. the klze makes ~200hp and the bpt/b6t (not sure which) is rated ~200.
One is NA which i love but the other is turbo and the 4cyl is lighter, so a lighter car to my knowledge would push 200hp alot faster. I cant get my hands on a used KLZE but i can get a DE (~165hp) and the 1.8t(lol).
If the transformation was to happen heres my questions:
1. mounting? will it mount the same? being a v6 to l4?
2. tranny...I plan on using the same gear box based that i read the gearbox would connect....need some verifcation on that.
{clutch will be definitely changed to handle hp}
3. COmnpletely off topic : all motor K8?? No one does it? Im not really into engine swapping and turbos, but i love high compression all motor engines. Right now I have a 88 jetta 8v all motor setup, its very torque, not good for drags but auto-x SWEEEEETTTTT NECTAR. :D
Ill be standing by waiting for post to this discussion.
Im learning as much as I can so i can provide more knowledge and insight for the MX community....the few...the proud....the M............X3's.

Edited by user to avoid hole being ripped in a--.
I know i said I like all motor setups, but lets be serious here. I want to be able to compete [...] so that all motor setup will be for someone else. Maybe lkike a gutted festiva...

The BPT weights the same as a KLZE, however the BPT in stock form
with the boost wound up makes a lot more hp 350Hp+

The V6 is a G serise gearbox, how ever the bellhousing and bolt pattern
is different from the BP/BPT motor.

Its not so much the clutch handing the horsepower the weak point of the
BPT is the gearbox, and stock differential, and axles

The gearbox suffer's from case stretch, and strips 3rd gear a lot

As for mounting, i think the only mount that does'nt line up is the
front one on the gearbox.....

As for a allmotor setup, you pretty much can't go past mine,
KLZE in a 3door familia, with more mod's than i care to list as there
appears to be a lot of anal retards on this board that when i put pic's
up of what ive done and built

Jeff might sensor this post a bit but im getting sick and tired of a lot of
negative comments and feed back from loser's who have never spilt a
motor apart or ever built a race motor / car .

Off topic: Project MX-3 going nowhere fast? Care to explian.

Thanks, I always thought that the 4banger would be lighter but i guess i didnt calculate the wieght. SO with that in mind. My new question is this...if i did an all motor setup on my k8 would i be able to keep up with...competitors.
I would only guess after increasing my compression, changing pistons, rods, valve retainers, etc. exhaust, cams, camgears, etc. I would get what maybe a 30hp increase? I really dont want to do engine swap but i think i should get a new motor since ill be pushing 200k miles soon. my car =

how long is a peice of string.......

First you have to make the power, then transmit it to the ground.
and then make it all hang together.

the biggest increase in power comes from throwing that 15kg lump
of ali they call a mainafold, CZT lastest one is not pretty but works.

basicly the K8 / KLZE internals for allmotor engine are good,
shot pean the rod's, blue print the oil pump, solid lifters and a decent
cam intake and exhaust system, you can make some decent Hp.

the list goes on for the gearbox, diff, mount's strut bars, rod end
suspenion........etc.......

I would rather get a KLZE, turbocharge, 6PSI, dyno tune, 3inch exhaust and call it a day.
A KLDE will do fine aswell
