Need some input on a weird ques

Post by 93-Spec-Edn »

Hi

Is there any way to drain a MTX v6 tranny other than the drain bolt?

Thanks

You can always smash the tranny with a hammer. Or suck it out of the filler hole.

Why can't you use the drain bolt?

Pull the axle out and have 10 big guys roll your car on its side.

Take out the speedometer gear and flip the car over.

The reason is my tranny has a crack by the drain bolt, so it wouldnt hold and fluid. As a result i welded the bold on using JB weld therefore it cannot be removed. I want to switch to redline fluid.

If thats the case your best bet would be to suck it out of the filler hole with a syphon pump or something. Anyway good luck with that.

A syphon (or the like) will not work since you need to get the hose to the bottom of the tranny ot get all the fluid out. That is impossible since there are GEARS and such in the way of getting to the bottom of the tranny.

You should have found another way to seal the crack... I don't think you can drain the fluid ever now...

Drill a hole??? Yeah I guess that should work... then put some kind of valve in it or stick a cork.
