S-AFC PROBLEMS

Hi Folks,

Decided to sell my Greddy E-Manage which I was planning to install and get the S-AFC 2 instead since I was able to find much more support for MX3s and person's locally with knowledge of this device.

I have run into a slight snag during installation. I have a 1994 JSPEC Mazda MX3, ECU B5-ZE DOHC that is turbocharged which is slightly different to the US MX3 1.6 DOHC. My MX3 for instance has 3 wiring connections (26,16,12 pins) going into the ECU instead of the 2 connections on the US model.

I have all the SAFC wires connected to the ECU but when I reroute the Air/Flow wires via the SAFC as described in the manual, the car starts briefly and shortly shuts down. If I bypass the SAFC for air/flow then the car starts fine. All other connections seem to be fine since I can view rpm, voltage, throttle etc via the SAFC unit.

Any ideas as to why this is happening, do I need a resistor or someting. I remember seeing the Greddy E-Manage coming with a resistor in the installation package.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated since I want to get this S-AFC up and running and get my car tuned. I am have some bigger injectors that I am looking at installing along with an upgraded turbo.

not to leave ya hanging but I don't know anything really about the 94+ B6 ecu with the SAFC. I heard they have problems. I just asked that question to get more info for other readers :). Have you dbl checked all the wiring/settings?

Do you have a MAF meter or a MAF sensor? difference being is that one is a flap style sensor and one is the hotwire...if it looks like a big box thats a meter...which would be selected as a flap style sensor..
