I've heard not to get het back in and out of the car when gasing up because you can build up a static charge, here's a perfect example.

i wonder where she went. maybe to get help or just runaway. i think id just get the hell outta there. but at least it was a jeep that it happened to so its no big loss if it blew up. that looks funny though looks like she just touches it and instantaneously lights on fire. also looks like it could be a good porn site too
im sure u were lookin for that vid on a site like that huh mike!

yea they couldnt get anythin to catch fire with the cell on mythbusters but doesnt mean it cant ever happen. strange things have happened so although they couldnt do it doesnt mean it cant be done but there might also be somethin else to it then the electric signals but who knows right

I work(ed) at a gas station, and we had to tell everybody not to use their cells
Vroooom
Agreed Hoodzy.and the cell phone thing is a complete myth
Have you any idea how many explosions there would be EVERY DAY? Has anyone ever heard of it actually happening? Bet not because even the fuel companies debunked that one.
Potentially. Anyone ever heard of it actually happening? Bet not. How many MILLIONS of people fuel up every day? If it happened ONCE the fuel companies would do something about it. I mean they can't have all their assets just being blown up cause someone decides to get out of their car.... Imagine the lawsuits...And it's confirmed that the static electricity you get when getting in and out of the car can ignite the gas.
This is all a bit silly guys...

Although I don't take Mythbusters word a God, but it's something to largely consider
I've seen quite a few gas station videos on the Internet related to static-electricity started fired, but none cell phone related, however, there are know cases of cell phones with exploding batteries (I think it was Nokia with the recall), it could be a combination of both systems, but not directly related to cell phone use.
Considering a cell phone, you must also consider.
Gas pumps that have electronic components, especially those with onboard debit/credit card payment systems, or even I think it's Esso with the LCD TV for advertisements. How about daylight runners, or people not turning off their driving ligts, there are alot of electronic/electric devices that could cause the same problem, but it seems only cell phone users are to blame.
Also, another thing to consider, a person could be going back into their car cause the cell phone ran and started a conversations on it, but created a static discharge because they re-entered the vehicle, and not from the cell phone.
