My 1992 mx-3 gs has 270,000 km on it. Everything on it is pretty much the original parts. The only things that were replaced are disty, clutch, axle, cat converter, egr valve and maybe some other minor stuff. It still runs ok. It runs more like a car with only 180,000 km on it. Maybe I'm just so lucky that the previous owners took good care of it.

Do u guys think that 270.000 km is still ok? I'm wondering how much km/miles are on your odometer? I hope my car doesnt give up on me till it reaches 350,000 km.

143,000 miles and running strong. I have pretty much replaced all the moving parts on the car, but I like new and am very into preventative maintenance, hehehe maybe a bit too extreme...

OK everyone, check this out: My 1992 MX3 RS has nearly 360,000 miles/579,360 km on the original engine and is still going strong! It's not burning any oil and I have not had to do any repair work on the engine to date.

I also have a 1993 MX3 GS SE that pooped out at 202,000 miles/325,000 km when I hit an object on the freeway that put a huge dent in my down pipe just before the flex coupler. (You would have to see the size of the dent to believe it.) I'm still not sure what I hit but the dent closed off at least 1/2 of the exhaust flow which proved to much for my worn K8 engine to take. I knew I was in trouble when my oil pressure gauge reading dropped to zero and sure enough, a few minutes later, the engine gave out. Happily, it's now getting the KLZE treatment (in progress) coupled with an array of serious "upgrades".

If anyone is interested, I'll be happy to post "the skinny" on the 1992 RS and include all the things I do to keep it running smoothly.

Whooa! 360,000mi??? Did you know, you could've traveled to the moon with that distance. Wow! What kind of treatment do you give your car? Push it to 500k and be a guiness world record holder. LoL!

actually I believe that the guiness record is by a man that lives in europe and has an MG with over 2 million miles. So good luck with that.

I believe you are correct. What's amazing is that he did it with an MG! (LOL!) I also own a 1980 Triumph Spitfire and had to have the engine rebuilt at original 22,000 miles -- the previous owner must have ridden the clutch alot which led to one of the thrust washers being dislodged causing the crank to float. Oh well, at least the body was and still is rust free -- MGs and Spitfires are water soluable (LOL!). Point is basic maintence and care go along way.

There are TONS of posts with this SAME topic.

Your car will last, just dont drive the crap out of it, change the oil

my RS has 188K on it now, runs great as well.

Lets revive this post ;)

I bought my mx3 with 101,300 miles and a thrown rod. As of now it has 121,100. I feel somewhat bad racking up those miles, but its good I put it back on the road rather than letting it go to a junkyard..

Now I have a Nissan Pathfinder as a daily driver. 218k and original V6 motor. I will be installing the remote turbo kit I built for it shortly ;)

My 92 GS 1.8 had about 280,000 original miles, and was still running hard before my ZE swap. It did have three bad piston rings but it still ran great.
It was original engine and original tranny, but it held all of my abuse. :D
