I am considering buying out of my contract with Cingular Wireless to get the new Boost Mobile cell phone. I like it because you dont have to sign a contract. It uses Nextel's 2way radio also. I was wondering if any of you have opinions on it?

I have an opinion on it. :D I used to work for ATT Wireless before Cingular bought them. Push-to-talk phones let eveyone hear your conversation. Because of ATT, cingular's network is probably the largest in the country, with Verison being not very far behind. Problem is, Cingular still has ATT's SOC codes, along with their own, so they're having problems getting all the phones to work properly on the entire network. Once they have it so that they are only using 1 code (i think they have on the go now), it will be one sweet system. As for Nextel, They just got a huge boost by merging with Sprint. I don't know if the PTT feature will work on the Sprint part of the network yet, but "normal" phone coverage just got alot better.

Personally, I'd stay with a GSM provider. Tmobile is GSM as well. Nextel/Sprint are not. GSM has faster transfer capabilities, and better voice quality. Also, programming a new phone is as easy as saving your phonebook to your SIM and putting it in your new phone. No punching in all your numbers and some strange codes to program your cellphone number. Also if you do any travelling, GSM is the standard pretty much everywhere else in the world, except Japan, where they use UMTS. A quad-band GSM phone (850,900,1800 and 1900mhz) will let you go anywhere in the world and your phone will work.

Well, the reason I want it is because my dad lives 400 miles away and this way we can keep in touch easier. My entire family has it. I had a cousin here last month and he talked to my uncle back at home on it crystal clear. I dont really have a use for a cell since most of my conversations last about 2 minutes. Not only that, I'll be a real estate agent next month and they have them to communicate between each other.

honestly go with nextel/sprint, wait till they have dual phones out to get them that way u can use the nextel two way & sprint two way.

i am also a realtor & love my nextel, free incoming roolz. When u do advertising & such ppl call u & want to talk about houses etc etc..........& you dont have to pay for it.

I use to work for nextel let me put it this way nextel/boost mobile are absolute crap. I was with the company for not too long it was intended as a summer job only I had sooooooooooo many people call and complain about bad service from both the customer care department as well as that they got no service on their phones. I worked with east coast callers, and as cool as everyone thought the direct connect (walkie talkie)was when it first came out soon grew to hate it when they got their bills. Nextel is good at getting poeple to join but once they sucker you in its poor service from then on in.

really bad service, nextel got number one for customer serivice, cingular i know people that have to put there phones in the window because it wont go through brick walls. I worked for a delivery company that loved the DC. the only people that get made are people that dont understand there bills. I got the 500 incomeing with local unlimited DC.... i love it. I know when i was with sprint, i would go in & out of roam. The only thing i dont like is that if i want a black berry i have to get a seperate account. as for the DC sucks you can turn off the speaker......
