2.5 swap-quick questions!

Post by MX3parkerGS »

Hey guys whats up?

My local auto salvage just got a '95 Probe GT today, and i just recently saved up enough money for all the neccessary stuff needed for a de swap! So im really happy that the timing fell in place like this. Anyways, I got a few questions...

First off, Ive searched around for the past few days on the swaps, but im still alittle confused about this OBD1 and OBD2 stuff. But to make sure, out of this PGT, obviously i can use this motor, but can I use the VAF out of this car? And what about the ECU out of it? If so, great, because the car still has both of those in tact. And then for the other situations, Im planning on buying a new timing belt, waterpump, and spark plugs, is there anything else that is suggested?

And for the clutch, I think ive seen this as confirmed on here, but just to make sure, i can use for example, a ACT clutch for the PGT/MX6 application right? Its just 'bigger' but it fits?

I appreciate any suggestions or anwsers to this topic! Thanks guys!

Id say put a stage 2 or so clutch in while your at it. That way if you want to up the power anytime, your clutch wont s--- the bed soon after.

and here is the sticker you want..lol

see theres that obd1 obd2 confusing stuff!!!! can anyone confirm as either correct OR incorrect??

Just my two cents, (not worth alot of say about this tho lol) even if the ecu is obd2 or w.e that means, wouldnt it still be okay since its the same motor that was with that ecu?

An OBDII engine will work just have to use the sensors & stuff from the K8.

An OBDII ecu will not plug into the ECU connectors for the K8

because the wiring harness of your mx3 is OBDI....the OBDII probe also has extra engine sensors
