How do you know when your Water Pump is going?

when it leaks and loses coolant, for me is did anyway

Since the water pump is the only thing moving coolant through your engine... you would see a large increase in heat getting worse over time... and eventually your coolant would start to boil

The water pump is mechanical. If the engine is running, it is working.

If it is leaking, time for a new one. Trust me, it SUCKS changing one with it in the car, especially when the one you put in leaks worse, it's 5 am, and you need it running fast. Yeah, you can tell I've had experience here ;)

Look out for loss of your heating unit. Look out for your temperature guage spiking up when you slow down or stop. Look out for any coolant loss - as you are supposed to lose very little.
