Can you build up fibreglass to shave your handles u can stand on fibreglass is this possible

i dunno why u guys wanna shave the handles on mx-3's they handles dont stick out so ur not really shaving ur filling!!! haha

yes you can shave your handles. i don't know why you need enough strength to stand on the fiberglass but yes you could if you built up enough. just remove the handles and sand down the paint, then apply fiberglass and body filler until you get a smooth shape. then paint it. but you will need some way of opening the door. you will probably need a hydrolic system. and if you go that far then you might aswell build a lambo kit. then sell me one . but try searching, you should find something. i remember seeing one with shaved handles.

another question tho ive only fiberglassed boxes and im comfortable with this task but how do i get it to stick around the handle at the start Because the cloth would just fall off give me some input. Could be a real retarded question.

You really need to remove the handles and weld in a filler plate first. Then use the fiberglass or the body filler to smooth it out. If you just do F.G., it's going to crack with slamming the door. Either way, if it isnt done right, the filler will crack anyway. My last truck had shaved doors and I swore I'd never do it again. Just my two cents.

drill tiny holes in the the metal areas of the door you will be doing, this will allow the fiberglass to grab onto something. good luck.

use a heat gun to dry the corners of the fiberglass then you can pull th fiberglass tight. Then just cover the rest with resin.

But most use a metal plate that is welded & finished into place.

when u remove the handles, file the door back to like a 45 degree angle. That way u can feather in the fibreglass. And you also definitly have to weld a plate behind the door otherwise the fg will just sink and crack as people have said earlier. Im going to do mine, but i have a solenoid kit for it.
Basically its a button u mount underneath the wing mirrors, when u push it the door pops about an inch open. Just enough for u to get ur fingers behind! Im going to wire it up to my cliford, so hopefully i'l be able to open my doors from my keyfob! Imagine how cool it would look with hyrdaulic lifters and lambo doors! Push a button on ya keys and the door opens!!

dont listen to above comments, dont use fiberglass to shave handles itll crack out and youll have a mess down the road. proper way is to weld them and then body filler
