I have read alot of comments about redline and Royal Purple gear oil but not many comments about Synchromesh gear oil (GM, Pennzoil, Quaker State brands). Is it safe to use Synchromesh gear oil in a manual transmission (these brands of Synchromesh gear oil only specify for use in GM and Chrysler) and Synchromesh gear oil is not the same weight as specified in the online shop manual.

It is really good stuff. I use it in my transmission. It is more talked about on probetalk.com and the probe gt use the same transmissions as us.

People like the syncromesh because it's apparently made for transmissions with brass synchros.

Ya I have heard good things about Synchromesh fluid.
2nd and third gear in my tranny are a bit rough when its cold so I double clutch until it warms up. I switched to synthetic but it was no better than what was in the car to begin with. Then I found this MX-3.com site, if I found it sooner I would have tried redline, royal purple, or synchromesh before the I tried the synthetic. I hope that the synchromesh will clear up the rough shift into 2nd and third a bit. The shift into second and third are not too bad right now, just trying to get as long as I can out of this transmission before a rebuild/replacement.
