Air Intake what to do.
Air Intake what to do.
OK, so heres a noobler question. Now I know of most of the different kids of intakes for the mx-3, but the real question is. Which one is best?
I searched around and didnt' find any really specific threads about this
SO, I'd like to know,
The intake that worked best for you, how much it costs, where you got it from, and how good it works.
I'm lookin to buy an intake and I dunno wich to buy. Custome Intergra intake offa ebay? PRM? Any info would be great.

well ur better off to make ur own and save like 100 bucks. anyway if u dont mind cutting and fitting the intake then u can go with the integra. the prm requires no modding i think becuz it was made for the mx-3 specifically. id say go with the cheapest one u can get but if u dont mind the extra money id say go with the prm intake. u can get the prm intake from corksport for 179 bucks and u can get the integra from psituning.ca for 130 bucks.

search harder
umm i left one of the intakes out cuz from what i hear it sucks and quite expensive
theere isnt gonna be much difference in quality
just if u have a smooth tube, non resisting air flow and a cone filter there will be no differences

hey tyler, the one on my car works pretty well!! Just kidding, custom is the best way to go. The prm one is just a pipe that goes on after the vaf, so it really isn't a full intake and definatly isn't worth the price. i have a big K&N cone filter mounted on the end of my vaf and it works real well.

Don't waste your time and money, use a K&N panel filter in your stock intake, sure it doesn't look as fancy, but unlike the rest...., it actually works! But if you HAVE to have a pod filter, then make sure you get some cold air to it

I'm with you on that. Wished I had kept the old airbox with the K&N panel that I had been using for 10 years. It was already a CAI by design from the factory already and most don't realize that.Aston Wards wrote:Don't waste your time and money, use a K&N panel filter in your stock intake, sure it doesn't look as fancy, but unlike the rest...., it actually works! well correct me if i'm wrong but even if the k&n replacement is better its gonna be minimally better then the CAI set up, plus u get a nicer look and sexy sound!!! for about the same price as a k&n u could even buy a k&N cone filter for the end and have same effect

So if the stock airbox is so much better, than why does K&N get dyno proven horsepower gains with a short ram setup on so many different cars?? Panel filters are much more restrictive than cone type filters.

....you've just got to look at some of the setups above, unvented pod filter are great...., for the first 10-15mins, then your under-bonnet temps rise and your sucking in hot air. Then you've got the filters on the end of long shiny, metal intake tubes, the filter might be getting cool air, but the tubes will be all heated up, not to mention the added length must surely be screwing with the vris points.
If you want a 'nice look and sexy sound' get a big 'ol pod filter, if you want a performance increase, get a K&N panel filter

What if I don't care about either? Someone like me just wants to improve fuel economy. I could care less how it sounds as long as it isn't loud, nor do I care how it looks as long as my engine bay is clean, and if I can get a performance boost out of it - bonus, but not intentional. So is there any intake I can get that would improve my mileage?Aston Wards wrote:If you want a 'nice look and sexy sound' get a big 'ol pod filter, if you want a performance increase, get a K&N panel filter
