when i ran over a road gater a coule of weeks ago i think among the other items damaged was the change rod (goes from lower shifter linkage into trans) does anyone know if this is a part easily changed?

There is a 10mm nut and bolt hidden in the rubber boot (took me a while to find when I swapped in my BPT). That disconnects it from the transmission. From the other end where the shifter is should be easy too, though I am not positive what is there. My guess is there's only 1 bolt, but check the online shop manual, even if its not your year, it should be similar.

uhm are you referring to the lower of the two shifter rods? or the part that goes from the lower shifter rod to the small rod inside of the boot that goes into the trans... the later is the part i'm reffering to.. i have a pic from the online manual but not sure how to post it

Yes, the latter is what I am refering to. That's the control rod. The other rod is the shift linkage. Inside that boot on the transmission end is where the bolt and nut are to disconnect it.

Oh yeah. I know for a fact you can disconnect both rods from the tranny while its all in the car. And I am pretty sure you can also take them off back where the shifter is too (under the car). Just put your car up on jack stands and check it out.

i know you can definantly remove the upper and lower shifter linkage.. did that already when i replaced the linkage and put srd bushings in.. just wasn't sure about the change rod that goes into the block/trans
