These guys dont screw around..
If you think some crappy program you may be using is keeping you safe then you are in for a big suprise.. Apparently an unpatched verson of windows xp will become infected with spyware within MINUTES of connecting it to the internet.

Yah but that solution does limit functionality no? i.e. ya wouldn't been able to make that post on the BB.

Ya, but the UBB is worth the risk
Honnestly, you don't get spyware visiting Mx-3.com, the only time spyware is an issue is installing P2P software, visiting pr0n sites and other similar questionable sites. Spyware is for the most part, manually installed, it's just that most users are unaware of what is legit and what will cause harm installing on the system. You could site at
http://www.mx-3.com/phpbb2/index.php all day and you will never set infected with spyware.

My friends love Spyware but hate it at the same time. The reason why they love it is becuas they've owned a local computer store for the past 7 years now. And this last year has been there biggest increase in business. And guess what it is? Removing spyware from peoples computers. They usually have between 3-5 PC's on the bench everyday just for removing spyware.
They've told me its not just them that are doing it either. Some of the computer stores they keep in touch with out of province are doing the same thing.
Just goes to show how many people dont look after there computers.

Exactly, the store I used to work for, we upped the charge for spyware removal cause there would be days that ALL the benches were spyware and virus removal, it still wasnt enough when we added another 4-in-1 station. Even then, we charged a flat fee, and malware cleaning isn't a quick job, so it had to be upped.
IMO, spyware has been alot less of an issue with Sp2
