Anyone know where to get an used (reasonably good) muffler for a 94 MX-3 1.6L 4 Cyl in US. Thanks.
(Local junkyards here in Ann Arbor dont seem to have them and its not available on ebay either)

You might check with a muffler shop. They throw stuff away all the time. Why do you want used? New isnt that expensive.

Hi, Thanks for the reply - The exhaust pipe broke off near the muffler (just before the muffler, after the flange) - local midas quoted repairs at $520 (replacing the exhaust) - another company quoted $260 just to replace the muffler - the cheapest muffler available here is about $130 - i am just exploring if it would be possible to get a cheap muffler and install it myself.

Where exactly are you? I got a whole exhaust for 300. We dont have that many bends in our exhaust system.

I am in ann arbor michigan - the midas mechanic went as far as saying the car will not be roadworthy if i didnt replace the whole exhaust right then and there. I could just see that only the muffler needed to be replaced - so i declined their offer and have been looking for a cheaper solution ever since.

From some of the pics i looked at - it seems that the header is different for 4cyl vs 6cyl but the catalytic converter and muffler setup seems to be the same (i think its the same size 2") - but i am a newbie and i could be totally completely wrong.

ovendenk, i really liked that concept sketches you had on your website - it would have been so cool if the engineers had done the interior(rear) as in the sketch....
