SC a ZE (not turbo)

I think I've gone through almost all of the old threads regarding this issue. I'm toying with the idea as the title states. It appears to be a do-able thing while retaining the 10.5 CR. I also understand that in retaining that CR I'll be limited to the amount of boost I can use and I can live with that too. I know that Spinkx79 has a similar project underway and I'll be keeping close contact with him. What I'm looking for is possible sources for SC parts, what are recognized as good quality parts for the project and recommendations. I'd like to make contact with those that currently run a similar set-up and hopefully are regular contributers to this BB. Getting up to date info from these current users would be a great asset and hopefully guide me in avoiding problems that they may have encountered in their install and upkeep. Thanks;
John

PS, Still sifting through the FI stuff on PT too. Also have seen a lot of conflicting stories/reports as to the projected hp - any comments here?

The last supercharged Mx-3 to my knowledge was Jeff Abrams, however he sold the car sometime ago. It was a beast, at 270+ whp using a centrifugal type blower. As for mounting, intercooling and driving setup, the parts were all custom. You may want to go to

http://www.mazdamaniac.com for details on fuel and ignition timing control. I haven't been to his site in a long time....wonder if it still exists.

Wow haven't been on here for awhile because the net was shut down and ran into alot of money issues. I have pix of my turbo setup and also m45 supercharger setup but I haven't had a chance to post it up. I'm still in the process of making the compressor outlet pipes and inlet pipes on the supercharger. I mounted mine where the A/C was since I didn't have A/C. It wasn't as easy as it looked lining the belts up and also I used the stock A/C brackets and a 1/2 inch thick aluminum plate so it moved the supercharger up pretty close to the frame. I was going to go with the turbo setup but that means that I would have to get a custom radiator cause it was going to hit it. I'll see if I can get these pix up so all you guys can see my crazy custom setups. Hey jschrauwen what supercharger are you trying to put on your ZE??? and also where are you going to be mounting it???

Still doing my research, probably the M62. Looking into possibly utilizizing a jackshaft across front headers and being situated just above trany and close proximity to intake. Your pics would be a great asset and it's much appreciated. Thanks

That is at the wheel.

Should be close to, or over 300 at the crank.

If hes running a vj20 theres no way hes putting 250 to the wheels. My friend has a 2.0l tiburon with a haltech and a t3 super 60 on it and hes making 250 hp and 290 tq to the wheels.

I dont know if youve seen a vj20 and held it in your hands but they are tiny.. Like seriously.. They work really good but they just dont flow enough to make big whp like that...

Its not the size of the ship... but the motion of the ocean. :P

Franko, don't hijack the thread, but while we are on the subject. I know for a fact that Justin has that HP. I went to the dyno with him and have ridden with him and raced him. He definately has what he sais. He is also pushing that VJ20 to it's limits and maybe then some. I think that dyo was done around 12-14 psi from the VJ20 and that was ALL it would give.
Also the Tibby has about 40 more pounds of torque. What PSI is he running. If it is close to 14 then he should have about the same numbers. It is completly possible...

Now as for the SC, Jeff had major problems with running the SC over by the tranny since the drive shaft for the SC ran at such high speeds. If you choose to go that route you will need his info on how to get the drive shaft correct so that you don't spend alot of money and frustration getting it correct. He also got tired of the maintenance and went turbo after a few years. I also think the 275 was from the turbo not the SC. I also think he had a DE not a ZE. I haven't been to his site in awhile, but you might try to email him. His site has been under conctruction for some time and he may not be trying to get it back up.

Im not hijacking anything.. its just pointless to make another thread just to ask jaydog a question. and Im just saying with my experience tuning cars and with turbos.. I dont think its possible to make that much power with the vj20. Its just too small.. it cant possibly flow enough. The numbers he has in his sig have got to be flywheel hp because its the exact same as mine.

If you didnt know, the ford laser has the same engine as the gtx with the same turbo (vj20) ford laser. Im not being a smartass or claiming that I know it all.. I just know that the gtx turbo is absloutely tiny.. Jaydog am I right or what? I know youre definately making those numbers at the flywheel but I dont know about at the wheels. What do you have to say about it? unless youre running race gas and have your timing put through the roof or something..
Dont flame me for this guys.. Im just reluctant to believe it is all..
If jaydog is making those numbers.. How is he doing it? Unless it was a typo and he has a vj20/vf10 hybrid or something. Please, let me in on the secret here guy.. :?

IF I let the secret out, then I wouldn't have the most powerful stock BP-T.

It's not a hybrid, however I do have some extensive external mods with the help of a labtop to tune with. Why would I claim it on my signature if it wasn't true? Franko, I was suprised myself when I saw the results. Believe me, the turbo is at the limit at 15psi. Again, tuning is the only way it was possible.

I will have to find the dyno sheets for you....
