Found A KL-ZE, I think

Post by UKMX-3 »

Hi, Well i've tracked down another KL-ZE in the UK.

Just wanted to check its authenticity.

The head codes are

LEFT HAND BANK- KL 31-1A1 RIGHT HAND BANK KL 31-101.

Does this sound right? Might be able to get the LSD aswell.

Head codes do not differentiate a KLZE from a KLDE as it could be a KLDE from a Millenia as well as a KLZE with that head code. The ONLY way to tell a KLDE from a KLZE is to shine a light down the spark plug holes. The KLZE has flat topped pistons with only valve reliefs. The KLDE piston dishes down some before it gets to the valve reliefs.

Is it coming from a breaker or an engine importer? If its a breaker he should be able to tell you most of the details below. if its a engine importer they probably won't know to many specifics about source car but should be able to tell you the number stamped on the throttle body

Ask them

What car it came out of ? Mx-6 or Xedos 9(Millenia) ?
What number was stamped on top the throttle body ? Should be KL31(But there other alternatives that I'm not sure of, others on the forum will know them)
What ECU was in the car ? Should be KL31 or KL36
What VAF was fitted in the car ? Should be JE50

Dunno about the LSD

Get as many details from them as possible then post them up here & I'm pretty sure the guys on here should be able to tell what engine it is

Hope that helps

God Damit....is nothing about this car simple!!!!!!

Next you'll be telling me i need to have it blessed by some obscure budhist monk for the ECU to work.

MR2 turbo is starting to look tempting

why dont you get one from US or Canada or even straight from Japan? Would probably be cheaper and very easy to find one.

Well even though its cheaper to actually buy an engine from north america, the shipping and import taxes add about 500 pounds to the price, so the pricing isnt that competitive.
