the MX might not make the trip.

Post by Josh »

so last night i got the boost controller on. nice!

but

i started it up this afternoon to get my greddy BOV welded on. and a few miles down the road i notices some hesitation. i pulled over to check it out. and nothing but white smoke and the sweet smell of good old anti freeze, came from the exhaust.
yep i blew another head gasket. well. after i pulled the head off a couple of hours ago i later found that in the winter one should always run a cotton filter, NOT a screen meshed one like i have. cause now i have to swap heads to a different one. i would have to mill the head almost 30 thousands to fix it. and with the turbo, not so hot on the idea. so its a good thing i have two extra motors sitting around. the Forged pistons got a little scortched as well, on the outer rim of cyl 1 and 4. so im hoping i can get it all together by friday to head up to the MX-West meet. if not i might be taking the Spyder. the car felt real nice with the added boost though. i should just go to the a 1.8L. everytime i think its going good; its not. :rant2:

That sucks! At least with the 4 cyl it's not hard to do extensive engine work. I couldn't imagine pulling the heads appart on my V6 in that short of time (with the engine installed). It's starting to feel like something is trying to sabotage our trip...

Hopefully you can still make it to Kelowna.
