Falken Azenis RT-615 Tires?
Has anyone tried these yet? Are they as good as the Falken Ziex 512 tires are for Wet / Dry traction? Just curious because i saw some of these today, and they looked really nice. But nobody was around to ask about them.

Well the 512's are All Season Performance... where the 615's are High Performance tires.
This means that the 512's are still better in the wet than the 615's, but the 615's are better in the dry. Also the 615's are rated at 200 treadwear and the 512's at 420.

for grip they are awesome really good autocross tire... but like he said treadwear of 200 so they won't last long as a daily driver...

they are basically R-compounds with tread....well not quite.
But they are one of the stickiest tires you can buy that are still street legal. The sidewalls are stiff as hell too. I have the RT-215 ones that are the previous & original generation Azenis.
There is simply no comparing these to ZEIX-512's, the ZEIX have s--- dry traction compared to azenis, but superiour wet & snow traction. The ZEIX are all-seasons, these are simply race tires. You can still drive in the rain, but you have to be somewhat careful since you don't have much tread to channel away deep puddles.

while on the subject, I was looking too at those tires. I wanted some for daily driving and for drag racing. What do you guys thing about 215/40-17 azenis RT-615 on my 17's for both drag (I don't drag race often) and daily driving. It's either this or buy 4 cheap 17's and have 0 traction on the street and 2 slicks for drag racing.
What you guys think. Option number one would be cheaper though

these don't wear THAT fast. should last a good 15-20k miles with occasional track time. They are pricier than the RT-215's but they aren't nearly as expensive as Pilot Sports which are only slightly better in grip, but cost damn near 2 times the money.
Apparently the RT-615's have better wet traction than the old azenis too. The old ones weren't like dangerous or anything, but they did hydroplane quite a bit if you run over very wet roads. These new ones are supposed to have like a channel for rain so they could be in a totally differnet league in the rain, but hell if i know.
I'm still waiting for magazines and more feedback from people about if these are that much better than the RT-215's. They are supposed to be 5-10% lighter in weight, have better wet traction, better dry traction, more tire sizes (still not all are out tho), but cost a good 20-30% more money![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

how would those compare to the 615's? what main difference between s compound and r ?

I think you mean S and H right? S is for soft coumpound and H is for hard compound. These are basically a Yoko slick with a tread pattern cut into them. They aren't the best tire as far as R compound DOT's go. But they'd probably last the longest. Which really isn't very long. Grip wise the falken is fairly similar. But the falken won't take very much abuse. These Yoko's would last much longer under extreme conditions and heat cycle better. The Yoko's are also an excellent rain tire for weekend track use.

The new Grassroots Motorsports magazine just arrived yesterday and they have a comparison of the top 10 AX tires you can buy.
Like Gro mentioned earlier, the 615s are the replacement for the older 215s. The 615 design does offer more wet condition control and less heat sensitivity. The tire held very well on sweepers, exit speed, and linear speed. They also noted that it had the least amount of wheelspin and understeer in tighter corners. Um, other than that, they just mentioned the tire being more pricey than the 215. It won the competition; second place were Yoko's new Advan Neova.
