I read somewhere on here that you crazy MX3 guys use the B6T cams in the B6DE head, and because of the distributor drive, you're reversing them by using the B6T intake cam on the B6DE exhaust and the B6T exhaust cam on the B6DE intake.

So what's the deal with this. Are there any power gains or differences in driveability? Obviously an intake camshaft's profile is designed to be an intake cam, likewise with the exhaust cam, and there are probably differences between the two cam profiles. Swapping the cams around doesn't seem like it would be a good thing to do... I'm hoping you guys have figured this one out and maybe have some info.

you should only do this if you are doing a turbo system the duration and lift of those cams is set up for turbo

I just swapped an MX3 B6DE head onto my B6T bottom end. I'm running the B6T exhaust manifold and a VJ11/VF11 hybrid turbo. I realize the cams are designed for a turbo engine, which is why I am interested in putting them in the engine. I'm not to thrilled about the idea of running the cams on the wrong side of the engine and I'd like to know others results before I swap my cams.

well i haven't heard any response to the b6t cams but i have heard responses to aftermarket miata cams which you have to do the same thing to and the responses have been good

I think that's kinda funny too... the swapping thing.

Cause the lift and duration on the cams are specifically ground for the intake or exhaust valves.

Unless you can find something that says they are the same lift and duration... then go for it.

because of the lift and duration being different from intake to exhaust, when swaping you have to have matching lift and duration cams on both sides. if not, your car wont run very well. you cant swap over the stock cams, but you could get the smaller one reground to match the larger one. or buy another distributor side cam and cut off the part that the distributor would have attached to. there are VW guys that do this. and that would work.
