Help!!

Post by Vaine0 »

Agghhh my crank shaft from my KL-ZE is too far gone for the machine shop to repair!! = (

I need to find a replacement, and I need the serial number from my motor to do so. Does anyone know where the # is located? I can't seem to find it anywhere... maybe I bought a stollen motor, lol.

What's wrong with it that they can't fix it? There are bearing choices for .010 over and .020 over if they need to machine it instead of just polishing it. I find it hard to believe it's bent, because the crank on my car bent two rods when it was hydrolocked. Worked fine in my rebuild. And why do you need the block #? There are probably a jillion part out KL blocks on Probetalk right now you could buy the crank from.

Honestly I don't know much anything about mechanical work... so I'm not even sure what you said. All I know is that my engine was knocking, and my mechanic replaced a rod bearing. The knocking was still happening so we had to take the entire motor out of my car, and he sent the crank shaft in to be machined. I got a call from my mechanic today and he said the the machine shop just got back to him and they said the crank was too far gone for them to do anything about it. Perhaps I should get a second machine shop opinion then? I'll post back here with the exact details of what was wrong with the crank itself tommorow...

When I call the wreckers, if I even mention the words, "imported motor" they'll say they don't have it and hang up. So will I be safe just saying, "I need a crank off a 2.5 liter ford probe" ? I just need to say somthing that will insure me that I've got the crank from a KL-ZE. I found another import parts specialist one state would be able to find the part for me if I could get them the serial number off my motor. (I figured it would be the simplest thing to do)

probe, mx-6, 626, millena 2.5L cranks are all the same as a KLZE crank.
