what year is your MX? if it is 94-95 and a manual you can use it off the stock motor. let me know and i'll even tell you which wires to connect where. the colors are different on the MX-3 sensor than the BPT.

hey Marlon, what did u use for some of your other sensors, cause the shop said that they had some other sensors that were causing problems...but i can't remember what they were...but just wondering if u used any haltech ones or what...thanks

You would have to use the coolant temp, air temp, and map sensor from the Haltech. You can use like the other guys were saying, the Mazda TPS like I'm using right now. You don't have to use the O2 sensor. You have to have a disributor signal or cam angle sensor in order for it to fire correctly. What seems to be the problem?

that would be a 2 bar MAP sensor. like jaydog said, use the temp, air, and MAP sensors. my temp sensor mounted right in the stock location, it replaced a sensor that looked exactly the same except it had a green plug instead of a blue(haltech) one.

i actually don't think you even need to use a TPS sensor if you aren't going to be running a wide open throttle map...i know i forgot to recalibrate mine when i switched fuel maps in mine once and it still ran the same.

u mean not using a TPS sensor?? how does that work? sorry if that is a dumb question

and what makes the 90-94 escort GT one work? what is different about it?

and the shop said that the Coolant Temp Sender is 3/8 NPT and they need a 1/8 NPT...did anyone run into that?

thanks

well the MAP sensor senses how much load(pressure/vacuum) is being put on the engine. the only factors that the ECU uses to calculate the amount of fuel needed are RPM speed, load, coolant temp, and air temp. the only exception is if you use the WOT map or the no throttle map...at least that is my understanding...i would still recommend using a TPS though because it's very useful in data logging.

a 90-94 escort GT sensor will work because it uses the same throttle body as the BPT...the escort GT has the same engine that you bought it is just not a turbo version.

you said you have a 1996 car though? do you still have your old engine? if so you should take the TPS off of it and then cut the TPS connector off of the main harness.

in regards to your coolant sensor, i know some people have retapped the hole in their thermostat housing to make that bigger sensor work. but, i would probably click here:
http://www.k2rd.com/haltech/accessories.html
and then order the "Coolant Temp Sensor (12mm x 1.50)" for $38. it will fit in the stock location where that green plug is right now. if you do order it you can use one of the bosch injector clips (that were included in your connector kit) to hook up to that sensor.

you are the same guy that i sent my fuel and ignition maps too right? i'm almost done tuning it and can probably send you a better one if you want. just make sure that it isn't pinging or anything before you start romping on the motor because our setups are not exactly the same. and run premium fuel.

thanks for the info ya that is me. the maps would be helpful whenever u get them done, and thanks for the info i will tell the shop tommorow.

at the shop they were wondering about the TPS the one off the escort being different than the haltech...cause ins't the stock on like the escort one, open or closed (i don't really know what that means in techinical terms) and the haltech system uses a TPS that does not only have a open and closed setting??? not to sure if i am correct here?

thanks again!

i don't know about the escort gt's but the 4 cyl MX3 DOHC TPS has variable voltage(to tell you throttle %) and also a separate wire that tells the ECU when the throttle is shut so it idles.
