Painting Pacesetter headers?

I am getting ready to put my Pacesetter Headers on my K8, they are brand new with their basic black paint on them.
My question is: Do I need to remove the paint that is on there before I paint the headers? What kind of hi-temp paint would someone recommend to paint my headers with? Where could I buy it from?

the paint will flake off even with high temp paint ive noticed it gets flakey.
powdercoating i cant say never seen it done on exhaust.

Well I'm taking them in tomorrow to have them abrasive blasted. Then I'll figure out what to do about painting.

I'd say powdercoating but you'll probley want to hit the inside with some ceramic coating or something else to help insulate it.

You can't powdercoat headers...the temps would melt it off, it's like a colorred glass sprayed on (it sticks to metal parts because of a static electricity charge added to the powder by the spray gun) and the cured in a high temp oven. Go with ceramic coating, it keeps most of the heat "in" the header tubes so you get WAYYYYYYYY less underhood temp. My hooker shorties melted EVERYTHING before I ponied up and got them coated on my 9C1.
It also helps exhaust scavenging since most of the heat "stays" in the exhaust gases, so you get less velocity loss due to the exhaust cooling down in the pipes before it exits.
Jet hot is one of the most popular companies...look them up on the net, but I'm sure local speed shops will have contacts for you. With a cramped engine bay like ours...I'd say it's a necessity.

how much does using header wrap help? is getting a ceramic coating a lot better?

how much does using header wrap help?
I would not recommend wrapping the headers with header wrap. They do a great job at keeping the heat in, too good of a job at that.
