I've had similar problems. Try the search function and you'll find numerous posts on the this subject. Mine have been far reaching and I'm finding it's a combination of numerous things from complete cleaning of TB and idle air screw, correcting miswired O2 sensor, cleaning coolant thermosensors, correcting vaccum lines and sensors, cleaning air filter, checking timing, changing plugs, cleaning rotor and disty cap contacts and resetting TPS. All of these to some degree are a factor in contributing to a poorly performing engine (rich idle/running) situation.

Throttle Position Sensor - plastic sensor located on the side of the TB. Cam driven type reostat that tells the ECU the relative position of the TB butterfly - which is directly controlled by the throttle cable. The position of the TPS/Butterfly in relation to the corresponding position of the VAF are the major players in the ECU's decision as to how much fuel is required.
