Crazy engine question

Post by CarMan1 »

one of my friends down the street doesnt care about his car, in fact he wants to blow it up...

he has a older Protege, the old boxy ones, im thinkin 91-2ish,

well, its an auto, but it does have a DOHC engine in it,

am i thinking right when i think i could pull the engine before he does whatever to it and use it in my car? would there be an issue since it was in an automatic car?

right now im using the 1.6 SOHC

You would have to install a pilot bearing most likely.. Automatic cars dont have these installed and if you are wanting to use a manual trans with it.. you would have to install one. As for the rest.. not too certain.. and I am in a similar boat.. a 92 protege is falling into my hands in the next month for only $200.. DOHC & Auto trans.. I figured I would yank the engine & trans for spares.

I believe you also may need the tps from a manual trans, not positive, but I think I heard it mentioned here before... :?
