Cracked Headlamsps - whats up?

I noticed the other day that my passenger headlamp has cracked for no reason that I can see  . I cannot see any stone chips or anything it just seems to have cracked.

Looking though the receipts I got with the car it would appear that this is the 4th headlamp that car has cracked and there is no hint of a crash repair on the car or the receipts so what is going on?

The only thing I can think is that the bonnet has cracked them when being shut, has anyone else suffered from this problem? I'm a bit reluctant to replace it until I find out what has happened as the last owner spent £375 UK STERLING EACH :!:

I hope some one out there can help me, Cheers in advance.

PS My cars a UK Spec 1.8V6 1997

Temperature shock, that is how windshields crack too. Your interior is nice and toasty and then an icicle falls in the edge of your glass.

You can always adjust your hood not to close that low.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think it's been cold enough here for temperature shock to have cracked it :(

So I take it I'm the only one out there that this has happend to. Do you think my bonnet is adjusted too low? How do you tell and how would I adjust it if it was?

Thanks again. :)

You can tell if it lines up with the lines of the hood, etc.
Adjust at the latch on the body of the car.

Cheers for that, I'll give it a go at the weekend.

Hopefully that'll be the end of cracked headlights for me :D
