RX-7 Fuel Pump Install

Well I got a FD (3rd gen RX-7 1993) fuel pump and went to install it. I remember reading that it is a easy swap. Well it wasn't as Easy as I thought. Have to custom cut the rubber stopper at the bottom which ended up a big waste of time because with the fuel pump sitting in striaght like the MX-3 one did the strainer hit the wall which cause the assembly to not bolt down again. So after twisting the fuel pump around to where the strainer is going towards the drivers side I screwed the bottom stopper back on and just tightened the thing back down.

For the install I needed a metric 10 nut and a metric 8 nut. Also 2 circle wire connecters to replace the plug. Different sizes. I needed to trim the metal intake pipe and trim the hose to connect that pipe to the pump. Could use some zip ties but I just used the rubber band type deal that held on the MX-3 pump. It stretched a little so It held it down nice.

I wish I had pics but I don't have my own camera :).

Either one will work..

I also have the 3rd gen pump and I went through the same ordeal. Trim this, cut that, you get the idea. I remember when I first got mine and I thought that big a-- pump is gonna fit in there?

Oh i got the stock one. The walbro was overkill for me. I won't even be using the RX7 one to the max prolly.... But ya the RX7 one compared to the MX-3 one is just MAN!
