I was wondering what the max psi anyone has turned their VJ-14 to without it being ported or clipped. Thanks :). Should have my car running in 2 weeks.

IC...IC. I am gonna swap my intake mani off my B6ZE onto the B6T. I guess I'll just mess around and see if I can run 16.

that sux, i do have a Vj 16 turbine, but hopefully it wont break, i haven’t heard of that happening before. i only have like 4K miles on the internals. had it rebuilt with all new internals. but after i paid for it realized it wasn’t much more for a T3/T4E. that’s what i get. i only ran it at 16psi cause thats as high as it would go without cutting out. Crazy Fast at 16. but not going to run it their again till i get the stand alone.

IC IC. I have a brand new cartridge for it. I will probably wait to turn it up til I port it out and all. I just can't wait to get that little bastard working.

How big is your down pipe and exaust when you guys run at 16 or 17 psi?

Porting it isn't going to prent it from breaking. Once your running over 16psi the turbo is just spinning to fast for the bearings to handle. If you were running elevated oil pressures then you may get away with 18-20psi for a little while but then your problem becomes compressor efficency. It's just simple to small and at 18-20psi your compressor out let temps would shoot to over 450*F. For more than 16psi you really need to upgrade to a larger turbo w/ a cooler compressor outlet charge. That will allow you to run more timing advance per pound of boost and make a he!! of a LOT more HP at the same boost level.

Yeah, those Vj turbo shafts suck. Theyre too small.

I had a stock IHI RHB5 VJ11 in my 88 MX6 GT and up here at high altitude, if I tried pushing over about 10-12 psi, the shaft would snap in half. I must have done this to 5+ stock VJ11's.

i have a 2 1/4" down pipe with 2 1/4" exaust all the way back. no cat. its all free flowing. i only ran 16 for a short while, to see what it would do. 14 is really the max for the VJ14. sooner or later i will get a T3/T04E 60 trim. should do nicely
