I dont see whats so bad about it. I can beat auto v6 mustangs and camaros from a roll. wit stock exhaust. all i have done is put on a cai.
can any one else beat those cars? or has something been done to mine that i dont know about. i know v6 camaros and mustangs are slow to but. they are putting out alot more hp than my car is.

no one says the 1.6 sohc is bad. it's actually pretty good because of the great gas mileage. performance wise :confused2: it sucks. do what a lot of people did and get a bp. also the search is a great tool. it will answer all of your questions if not more.

when you say it's not slow compared to other cars, what exactly are you comparing it to? performance wise, ditch it or turbo it, but turboing will not give you the results you want for the money that you're spending. please use the search button.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but are you sure the V-6 Mustangs and Cameros are trying? My girls V-6 Mustang is stock except for a dual cat back exhaust and she makes me look like I am in reverse, from a stand still and rolling. Even when I get a jump on her as soon as she hits about 4000 rpm I can hear her motor start screaming and suddenly shes in front of me again. Just curious.

I will agree that the SOHC sux, but its an entertaining little engine, w/decent gas mileage. That said, I still can't wait to get the BP up and running

Have you ever driven in a MX3 GS with KLZE or a MX3 RS with BPT or one that is turboed? I am just saying that I thought my 1.6 DOHC was pretty fast when I first got it until some friends with the MX3 GS with the 1.8 V6 made be realized otherwise.

Yeah, I don't really consider my GS very fast, its fun to drive, just not fast when compared to most newer sports cars. Yes its fast compared to kia's, cavis, neons and most (not insanely modified) civics and crap like that. I think they should have only made the MX-3 GS, maybe it would have been more successful? I would presume that back when mx-3 were at dealerships they mostly had the cheaper RS and that's what people test drove and most likely found it underpowered. I know someone that got an RS then drove in mine... he wants to trade cars now.
My boss mentioned to me that he test drove an mx-3 when they were new and wasn't impressed at all, very slow and it topped out around 170kph or so. He said he couldn't remember which model but they told him its the highest end one they had. Must have been an RS because my GS does 200kph. So there is one MX-3 that wasn't sold because of a bad first impression.
They should of had the RS with the BPT or K8 and the GS with the KLZE.

I got the SOHC and I don't see why people say it's so awful......

ok I know it isn't FAST, but it's a quick little engine/car combo...

I can keep up with a 300hp Pontiac Firebird Formula from a 40mph roll, and it only pulls of me ever so slighty...

Plus intake/exhaust modified 1.6 civics don't stand a chance... took one of those by 4 car legnths...

And just for fun, ford trucks are a joke. :) lol.

And yes these cars were all trying... in fact the driver of the formula said that they were over revving their car a little and that made me happy, cause I was redlining ofcourse...

Also, why do so many people have a hard time burning out? I just put new tires on my car, 'A' traction in dry weather, and I can smoke it too easily (stock 14" rims may be the reason). I wanna race the formula again now that I got a muffler but only after I get my intake. :) lol.

from a dead stop... I had it till about 30mph because it had NO TRACTION at all, but after it hooked, it was like a sling shot... though I suprised the driver a lot. :)

I don't know, I have a sohc. It's also an autooooo OOO NOOOO.
But seriously, I beat a friends crx that had the integra LS motor in it.

I dunno, maybe you and I have special motors..? No-one belived me when I said I beat that thing either.

The SOHC isn't FAST, but its a tough little mofo. I'm guessing you can do quite a bit with it, given the right budget.

your kidding right? i hope you are and if your not, brace yourself for flameage. no way your sohc did all that? took off like a sling shot? hmmm wonder why my sohc couldn't do that? muffler and intake? 20 hp right? oh man you make me laugh
