hey people, i have a deposit on a j-spec KL-ZE with 90,000kms on it to drop into my eunos 30x. What i want to know is what my biggest problems will be and any parts i will need to aquire before swapping the engines. Any help? also about how many hours should i expect the swap to take... i've read the 'how to' pages, but i just want it drummed down a shade

ECU, a KL ECU is a must, preferably a KL31
cambelt change, all the other things are preventative maintenence and are probably in the 'how to' already
i'm assuming you have a 5sp, if not, don't bother

hey dude when i was in melbourne i had the ze put in, i needed a new clutch, new flywheel, new oils and coolant, also need to swap the coolant neck across from teh k8 to the ze as thats what shuts the FAN DOWN!!!!! The ze ecu as well( kl31 or kl36) up to you.

Probably a good idea to get new gaskets for it as well, you will also want to change the alternator you put on it... (depends on type of bracket it sits on) as my bracket wouldnt fit properly. also mazdaspeed motor mounts would be ideal or polyfilled mounts as the ZEs power will rip the stock mounts fairly quick and then your engine will hit the hood. Also a Cold air intake. If you want a good write up on things goto the v6 FAQ section on this site:)

Okay, i should have said i have a deposit on an engine package (ECU, sensors on loom, wiring, 5sp manual gearbox, AFM, motor). Should i find out what car the package came from? i thought it might affect dropping the engine in (eg. bracket sizes, hose lengths) depending on what it is from. i hear most KLZE's in australia come from jap mx6's...
So how do i stand now? any other parts apart from clutch and machining flywheel?

Get all the details, of what car its out of though, coming with a 5speed

curently in your wee MX3???

Be careful with the ECU to make sure it meets Australian emmission standards - I was told that the KL31 won't pass here (well, if they look which I doubt). Needs to be a KL28 80**.

Hey good luck with it - what part of Sydney you in?

I currently have a k8 in the mx3. My next question was going to be about emmissions, thanks for the info about the ECU. i will look into that. I'm in the dural (north west) of sydney.
I have just cancelled the deposit on the KLZE from adelaide that i found. A guy in the gold coast told me he would search around for me and found a KLZE for $2450aus with motor, wiring, ecu, gearbox including gst and delivery!!! and driveshafts for $165 each, compared to $3600 for the same package minus the driveshafts from the adelaide company. definately pays to shop around.
Is there any differences between the 626 ZE and the mx6 ZE's?

You're kidding - I'm in Cherrybrook, right on the Dural border - I can throw a stone into Dural...

You could try getting information off Ric Shaw Preformance - he just does Mazda and races the RX7 in GT Performance. His number is 97167690. If anyone knows he should. Theres some other guys who specialise in Mazda / Eunos performance over Canterbury way from memory - if you want the info let me know and I'll dig it up.

First off hi to all the Australian 30x ownwers! Grant isn't the KL28 ecu from an Australian KLDE MX6? Also why would the KL28 provide cleaner emmissions?
Congrats Slim on the KLZE I've just finished installing mine just need to sort out my idle issues and get a KLZE ecu.

Grants, i will definately check out the guy you have recommended. knowing about any parts or work i need do before i have it done is definately a big help. maybe i will see you around somewhere, or at least you will hear mine. I've been warned by the cops twice about the volume of my exhaust in cherrybrook. its only a 2 1/4 inch, but it roars. done any work on yours?

faried, did you come across any hiccups while installing your engine? and did you do the gearbox and ecu as well or leave them as standard k8? any troubles with blue slip? what city are you at?

once i'm all done we'll rock down to eastern creek for the drags
