17 rim offsets

Hey,
I am looking at getting another set of 17s for my car since I can sell my old rims pretty quick. After searching threw to find offset's that will work I just want to confirm.
Rim will be 17x7 w/ 205/40 tires
So the offsets that will work are 38 40 42 45 and some say 35
Is this correct? Also I think this should be made a sticky or maybe even put to the FAQ's. Thanks
