Hey,
Does this car belong to anyone on here?
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/354836/1
He says he has around 300whp right now and by the time he's done he'll have around 600whp!

That's what I was thinking! I almost call bulls--- but we'll see if he's a member. Maybe he can tell us his master plan!

jwmotorsports... you should see a couple of posts from the guys going for big horsepower this year if you read through the FI section here.

I personally wouldn't say I have the horsepower until I made it there, but he is looking for sponsors.

Honestly....no the car hasn't been on a dyno yet and as you can see from the pictures the test engine is under assembly. I've already seen multiple 4cyl engines dyno 550+WHP with this exact same turbo running around 25psi of boost (turbo only). No it isn't my daily driver anymore and the only things left in the back end of the car and engine bay are the bare necessities. I've got a 8ft. sheet of .025" 3003 Aluminum on the way from the back end of the car (Fuel Cell, Filter, & pump area) and a sheet of 6061 T6 Aluminum for the intake manifold I drew up in the CAD system at work (I'm a Design Engineer for NIBCO of Virginia). I've been working with Derrick Ambros @ Corksport, DJ Stewert @ ET Motorsports (505HP AWD streetable Talon), Accel DFI Tech's and several others that have the knowledge and experiance to back up my so called "Bull s---". I've got over 7 years of R&D on this project. In addition to the turbo I'll be spraying nitrous on top of it w/ a progressive controller eventually. We are currently trying to develope mods to make a tranny hold up and still be legal for street class. I'm pushing the street class rules as far as I can with this car. The target numbers for the finished project (not any time soon cuz I'm way past broke right now!) are 2000lbs w/ driver, 650WHP, 1/4 mile ET 9.5's around 160MPH. The car has TONS of electronics. I'm still debating on which wide band I'm going with, but am staring hard at the PLX Devices R-500 w/ tons of data loggin and knock detection, etc... I might end up with the M-500 (doesnt' have knock detection and $100 less). Right now we are stuggling with welder problems (90amp DC MIG doesn't have enough juice for the thick stainless manifold). I don't know at this point if we'll be able to make the NOPI races in April and I am REALLY PISSED OFF about it! Getting freaking parts sometime is like pulling teeth (like my aluminum)!!! Even if we don't make the April races we are still planning on trying to make it to a couple others. The main hold up as of now is the welder and the aluminum. Once that hurdle is leaped one of the heads can be bolted on, electronics finish being installed and then I can start the car and go tune it. I'm still trying to sell my High Impedance RC Engineering 440cc injectors so I can afford the 1000cc (96 lb/hr) Accel Injectors. The test engine will probably be the one I use this year (or most of it) tuned at around 300-350WHP (It has the small rods). The race engine has to be line bored due to the forged main caps, then bored .020" over, crank needs knife edging and cryo treatment. Then it can recieve the goodies, Wiseco forged pistons (been sitting over 1 year now), Crower forged rods (sitting at Corksport w/ several other parts), ARP Head Studs, ARP Main Studs, ARP Rod bolts come in the forged rods, COMETIC High Pressure Head Gasket, Mazdaspeed High Volume Oil pump. The head still has yet to recieve the valve train upgrades ($800 or so in parts) so I'll be running a stock valve train w/ 3 angle valve job and custom port n poslishing w/ Corksport Cams for this year. The fuel system still isn't complete (I'm broke) and the clutch isn't up to more than around 350 LB/ft with the new disc. Once again I'm broke, it needs at least a Carbon Fibre Twin Disc Clutch. Have faith....or I'll make you look like an idiot in the end, LOL!!!

I wasn't trying to offend you. But I still wanna see some official numbers. I hope you meet or exceed you HP goals!

The question still remains, how are you gonna get traction? Maybe a 323 AWD? That I'd LOVE to see! :D

Keep us posted and good luck!

I'm staying FWD at least for a good while, the suspension has had a lot of mods. Still a lot more mods to come for it to though. One of my solutions is to make a new front end from Kevlar so I can stick some 15x8 or 15x10's under the front end w/ Nitto NT 555r's in atleast a 275 width on the street (slicks on the track). Also...there is a Mazdaspeed LSD sneaking into the tranny you see torn apart on my cardomain page. I have a feeling I may get kicked out of street class when I do the front end. If not I bet I'll eventually get protested out of the street class once the project car has hit the target!!! I'll be sure to post dyno results and time slips in a couple months.

PS

No offense taken, I didn't mean to sound harsh. I understand you all's reasoning because it is no easy feat with any car.

what he says is totaly legit. iv been following his progress for a while. as he and i are kinda in the same boat. with our HP goals speed and power. the only exception is im going to be AWD, hopefully by the end of march. iv got most of everythign needed just the trans now. but money is a huge factor in everyones build up. and with little funds it takes a hell of alot longer to build things up. but i would say his power claims are in the rite area. just like i havent gotten to a dno either but i know im around at least 240ish to the wheels. just because of some of the things iv done and what i have in my motor and some of the cars iv gone up against which i should have had no chance in hell of beeting.

from what i understand is as long as its not a one piece front end its ok. as long as the fenders hood and bumpers are still their own pieces i think its ok. its been a whils since i read the rules on what the classes can and can't have. they have changed quite a bit in the last few years.

Just wanted to let you all know I have a lot of new pics posted on my Cardomain site (click the link in my sig.) We are running short on time so we are modifying a M1 Miata Intake Manifold to work for the time being. After the Diwiddie, VA race we're planning on fabricating the sheet metal Intake Manifold. We are still looking for that perfect plenum design. A good friend of mine at ET Motorsports (DJ) in Weyers Cave, VA gave me a good idea last night. He was telling me about the dual plenum styles the Pro's run with the throttle body in the center. I had though of a similar design but space is our problem. The turbo manifold is about 90% complete. We have to straightn out the head flange, adjust the collector position to compensate for the manifolds movement after welding, and put the external wastegate tube on. This weekend we are trying to knock out the exhaust, Intake Manifold, and IC pipes. We should be able to get most of it done. After that all we have to do is finish wiring the car, plumb the hoses, fill with fluids, start and tune the engine! We finished putting the test engine together last weekend.
