The most importatnt changes are the dropping of the 3rd coolant temp sensor in the filler neck, and a slightly different distributor, with the wiring of the 3 wire connector completely swapped around.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system

Mine only displays the time, -unless theres a button you can push! but I dont think so
yeah, I noticed the writing on the engine is in a different place too..
heating controls are slightly different too, but I can't see many other differences
liking the Mats in your car, very nice.. they the OEM Mazda ones? guessing they are with that lovely V6 emblem in there... can't remember how mine look, iirc its black with MX-3 written in it or something..
enjoying your car? I'm absolutely loving mine, apart from that rather fast moving fuel-gauge!!!

Just for the record, I have been keeping records of my fuel usage.
More info on that in a moment.
I have noticed that generally during winter, MPG tends to drop.
Rumour has it that this has to do with changes made to the chemical composition of petrol for the freezing winter months.
This change contributes in part to our reduced MPG.
(Maybe that's not true....anybody know better? Do enlighten us please!)
The other contributor naturally is the cold.
The laws of physics and chemistry cause us to use more fuel in winter.
Over the last 2 tankfuls, I have been able to squeeze out 237 and 235 miles respectively out of a tankful.
The above is not strictly true. As my MX-3 1.6i DOHC doesnt have a fuel gauge warning light.... I tend to pull into a fuel station when I am dropping below the last graduation point and it looks like i havent a drop left. The truth is each time I fill up to the brim, I get only 41 Litres into the tank.
That is an indication of how much fuel I have really used.
That means 41 Litres had taken me approximately 237 miles - not the entire tankful(50 Litres?), which would definitely take me further.
I have managed to get between 210 and 248 miles from approximately 40 Litres of fuel - depending on driving conditions. Most of my driving is 5 miles to work, 5 miles home. The rest is pleasure. Motorway driving is rare.
My best in this cold weather - has been 28 MPG. Is that good?
That was when I got 248 miles for 40 Litres.
This was also standard driving, with 100 miles of that being on the M1.
And no, I didn't spare the horses while on the M1. 70 MPH and perhaps, er, a bit higher.
Overall I am very pleased with the fuel economy of my MX-3.
I don't think I have been ripped off engine performance wise - it is exactly what I wanted. Economy car engine (with a nice power range when needed) mated to a kick a-- body shape that still makes me swoon when I look out of the window at it.
Drat, I just peeped again, and I feel dizzy with excitement.
Is that beautiful spacecraft on wheels out there really mine?

Well, filled up with Optimax today after 190 miles
had only used 34 litres.. my fuel gauge is appallingly innacurate it seems!!!!
but anyways, don't need an empty tank to do sums... so pulled out the calculator anyway, and worked out Im getting 24mpg
got a tank of Optimax in it now, (well.. all but 15 litres is) so I guess im running about 96/97 RON -ish!! and I put a dose of Redex in there too, we'll see how well she does this time.. started a spreadsheet to log its usage, against fuel-types (ie brand, and RON value) and the date (for a vague temperature guide)
:edit:
where is the Fuel Light by the way?

Fiddlesticks!!
My MX-3 RS doesn't have one of those fuel gauge warning lamps!
Oi! Mazda! Wot do u fink ur playing at?!
Nah! I knew it didn't have one while researching, but it was tooooo cute to resist.
So I still bought it - and I still love it regardless!!
