longer stroke in a BP - 2.0 L

I am rebuilding a BP for my mx3 rs. Does anyone know if this stroker kit would work in a protege LX engine? It is a modified crank and longer rods for a miata engine. If the blocks are the same it should work in a protege engine right?

yes, it will work. what year is your BP? and its out of a Protege? some came with a short-nose crank snout, and thus smaller oil pump, and different crank pulley. if yours happens to be the short-nose, you would need to source the big-nose parts. then it will drop right in

I actually do not have the engine yet. What year would work best with this kit and how do I know if it is short or big nosed?

how do you know if it's a short nose? i have a 92 bp motor and i was planning on getting the stroker kit. what do yo mean by short nose?

the 1.6 B6 miata had a 'short-nose' crank from 90-1; from ~91.5-93 it was replaced with the 'big-nose'. altho I have not personally held/seen a 'short-nose' 1.8 BP crank, the 90-1 BP's came with a 'short-nose' as well. You'd want a crank out of a late 91 and up Protege/Escort to be sure of getting the 'big-nose'.
