I had trouble with my old alternater and had to replace it. I did and the new alternater worked fine for a week then the belt started sliding and making that hideous noise. The noise occures when I run everything on the car... ie. reving, headlights, mp3 player, defrost rear and heat. She starts screaming. Its worst when its cold. But today the stupid check engine light kept coming on. Is the battery going or is it just my alternater belt thats slipping? Let me know. asap
cheers
Jason

Sounds like your belt is just slipping. Tighten it up first and see if that fixes it.

Battery Light!
Thing is I had this happen to me after I took my car in to get an engine shampoo! I figure the bums did not cover the altenator properly and fried it when power washing it. So in short try the belt first if not look into getting a new altenator (350) minus core charge. If it is your Alt, becareful of the black rectangular thing (air regulator) it slides back and forth not up and down (My bad). Its a tight fit but it will come up not go down. (alt that is).
