I'm installing the cylinder head on my 93 SOHC MX3 (B6-ME) now my question is what the hell lines up the block the qasket and the head? because when I put the gasket in place it moves all over there nothing to hold it so what lines it up??Is there not any pilot pins or bushings?
Thanks in advance

I think there should be some sleeves to line it all up, well my DOHC has them anyways not 100% sure if the SOHC has them but there should be something to line it all up!! Good luck!!

The sohc was only used for 2 years in 1 model Mazda...the MX-3 from 92-93, so I wouldn't doubt it if they slacked on the motor, you can try some very small spots of yellow glue, just like 4 pee size dabs in 4 different spots of the motor, make sure you use plenty of copper spray. only thing I can think of off the top of my head. talk to you're local parts shop, they may have an idea for ya'

Check your old head and see if they pulled out of the block and stuck into the head. I doubt very seriously if it shipped from Mazda with the dowels in place. If they are not in your old head, then someone in the past has had the engine apart, and removed them. If you cannot find them, the dowels from any B-series engine will work.

I have pulled six B6ME's, three B3's, three B6D's, and two B6T engines apart, all had the dowels, but many times they would pull out of the block and stick in the head, but if the guy at the Mazda parts counter says so, it must be true.
