There is a company that does clutch type lsd comversions. I forget the name though you should be able to find it in a search. That way you don't need to find an overseas supplier for new axles when you kill those.

...or you could bite the (quite expensive) bullet, and get a Quaife ATB differential with ARP bolt kit from Mazda Competition Parts. It's about $1,400 US if I recall correctly.
Having driven a lightly-modified VW GTI before and after installation of the Quaife, it is WORTH THE MONEY if you are looking for improved cornering!!! Where before there was a big push under hard cornering, after it just hooked up and pulled its way around the corner like it was on rails.
If you just want to improve traction off the line (I.E. for drag racing), then a clutch-type diff might be a more cost-effective way to go. My personal experience with clutch-type or viscous LSD's in FWD cars is that they have little beneficial effect in hard cornering, and in some cases have made them understeer more in general - not great for handling, but they can really put the power down in a straight line!
Oh, and whatever you do, stay AWAY from the "Phantom Grip" conversions, no matter how tempted you are by their low price. Everyone I know who has tried them says they are junk for both handling and acceleration, and not worth a dime...

Around here if you talk to the right shops and offer them cash on the spot you can get a KLZE with tranny, axels harness, ecu etc. for under CN$850.
