A while back, on the old UBB Forums, someone had a suggestion to improve the Forum Member listing, so that we could see what location everyone was from.

Someone else replied with a link to a forum that had some sort of graphical Map, displaying where each user was from, by city.

I can't seem to find that post, and was wondering if anyone remembers the post and can find it for me, or can post a link to a forum with this feature on it.

Forget it, I found the link/post i was looking for. We'll see what we can do about getting a similar feature set up on this forum.

No.

I didn't like the way it worked. Basically it was up to the user to place a pushpin where they live.

So people could place pushpins in the middle of the ocean, or in Antartica if they wanted to.

I am looking for something that queries the database for each members location field in there profile, and places a dot on a map of the world, or at least North America so we can see where everyone lives.

I have yet to find something like this, and do not know how to program it myself.


Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

hey Jeff, that was me who suggested that idea. Yet it is not that practical since you put those pins anywhere, but it was just an example to give an idea. Glad you liked my suggestion and hope to see it live soon on this site.

I think that I have seen this somewhere, and it automatically put the pushpin in for you...

just use the one where we place the pin and tell people that if they abuse the pin then they will be deleted. Problem solved. joking around with thte pin is not worth loosing your access to the board so people won't do it.

this would really kick a-- if it works out. why don't we try it out?
