ok the only ecu i found in my local yards is an escort ecu. i have a mazda bp. would it still work? thanks

Yep. What was the code on the ECU? I had a guy at a yard try and sell me a protege SOHC engine ecu, but said it was a BP01

You want either the BP09 (from a Protege) or BP10 (from and Escort GT).

BP10 is from a Protege LX, and the BP09 is from an Escort GT.

ok guys this is my dillema. i'm moving to washington in about a two weeks and i need a bp ecu real bad. i want to get it running before i move so i can bring it with me. if i can't i might have to leave it. please if someone has one and would sell it for a decent price i would be very to take it off your hands. cmon guys help an mxer out. if i can't get a bp ecu. what ecu would work for a little while? would a 94+ mx-3 ecu work for now? 1.8 dx? i need help guys.

I don't know if any other ECU's would work. I think the '94 MX-3 ECU is too different. The '93 might work, but I never tried it. I bought a BP09 ECU from a junk yard for $100, but I wanted to walk in and get it. If you shop online you can find them cheaper but you then have to pay shipping and wait for it. I wish I could offer up a better solution for you.
