Hi guys. I'm new here... Just had a few questions...

My girlfriend recently bought a '92 MX-3 with 60,000 miles on it. It's the 1.6L engine, I believe. And, she's kinda complaining about the lack of power in it. (She just went from a 3.8L V6 to this car...)

What I'm wondering... Are there some quick and easy mods to put on it to give her a little more zip so she'll stop whining about it? I like the car. I think it's pretty damn awesome, but she keeps ranting about how her Reatta had much better pick-up than this. Oh well...

Anything would help. Thanks guys...

Yeah, most of the folks will reply advising to swap it out with a BP or BPT motor.

However, there is always the Turbo option. I have attached a few pictures from Racing Mazda. It is faster this way as the site has a tendency to be slow.

As you can see this turbo set up does not have the intercooler system. It is said if you are running 4-5 psi this is not neccessary. But it wouldn't hurt to have one.

Also the way this system is set up you can run pretty much everything stock since you are using a low psi. If you decide to up the psi it is recomeded you upgrade you injectors, ignition system and exhaust, to name a few.

If she had a 6, this 4 will just suck.
its the smaller of the two 4 bangers mazda made on the MX-3.
she will always complain. get rid of it and get one with a bigger engine.
Since she comes from a bigger engine, she will never be happy with this small 4 banger. sorry

-Myardor - There are plenty of other reasons for her to like this car. Her only complaint is the lack of power. All I asked was suggestions for boosting said power, not whether or not she should get rid of it.

- Calkidd - I was suggesting to her the injectors and exhaust avenues, and she was pretty intrigued. What would you suggest for the parts, place to shop, etc? Oh, and how much would a smaller turbo and cooler combo cost?
