4 Cyl DOHC Question

Post by phredren »

Hi guys, I don't own an MX3... I just have a few questions about them. What year MX3's came with the DOHC 4 cylinder (I'm in Canada, if that helps)? Is this a B6 engine or is it a BP? Do all 4cyl DOHC cars have a VAF air sensor (flapper door) or do they use a MAF? Do they have a knock sensor? And are the cars without the VAF style air sensor OBDI or OBDII?

Thanks guy, I really appreciate it.

By the way, this is the car that its going into. I'm trying to find another Mazda EFI system that will be more tuner friendly then the B6Ts system, and one that doesn't use a flapper door sensor.

92-93 is OBD 1, 94-95 is OBD II. 94-95 has a 3 wire O2. and not totally sure about 96, but i know it has i think 2 O2 sensors and the ecu is way different than 94-95.

No Mx-3 sold in the U.S was OBD-II. Only the Canadian Mx-3 from 96 was OBD-II. All cars had to be by 96.

The number of wires on the O2 sensors have nothing to do with being OBD I or II.
