Changing Mazda Logo Badges on 1997 MX-3

Post by psneddon »

Hi,

Does anyone know how the mazda logo badges (front and rear) are attached to the bonnet and boot? I would like to update them to the up-to-date "flying M" logo. I can get the new badges from a MX-5 spares shop, would these fit?

they are attached by adhesive,I removed and updated mine with a putty knife by placing it behind the emblem and prying gently forward on each side, you should also remove any leftover adhesive before applying your new emblems

your best bet is to heat the adhesive up with a hair dryer tyhis makes it so much easier to take them off

Thanks for the info, the badges I'm getting are from a MX-5 store so I hope they will fit, I can't see why not

Hmmm, I got my badge throught the post this morning. Only thing is that it seems to be flatter then the old one so I'm worried it won't sit right on the bonnet? I'm going to have a more detailed look at it later

It went ok, I actually managed to pull the old badge off (In one piece) with my hands, took a while to get the rest of the glue off though, just used some warm water and cleaner. The new badge had to pins on the bad but they didnt line up so I just cut them off (they actually snapped of very cleanly) - The new badge lined up nicely and clovered the old holes, the glue on it sticks really well.

Looks really nice, still have the old badge on the alloys though but they will change eventually.

A nice cheap upgrade, the badge only cost £8 :)

sorry I didnt see this post sooner.

the best "flying M" badge to use for our hoods is the one from the rear hatch of a MP5 (Mazda Protoege 5) it has the same curve and size as our hood badge. you just snip off the locating pins in the back and stick it on.
