mx-3 vs tiburon
Damn I hate tiburons. They're ugly and they're Huyndai. What kind of mx-3 (gs or rs) do you need to beat those loosers?<P>------------------<BR>Brainless<BR>93 Red RS<BR><A HREF="http://www.Geocities.com/j_micho" TARGET=_blank>geocities.com/j_micho</A> (last update 30/07/2001)

i dunnow man-they come stock with a 2.0L 140hp engine, and they're not all that heavy , either. Most definetely a GS (130hp) w/mods would probly be sufficient, since MX's weigh considerably less <P>------------------<BR>'92BlackBeauty

Re: mx-3 vs tiburon
Huyndias tend to have a really poor tranys, unlike our MXs that only take around 5% of the HP, huyndis tend to take 10 to 15% and have really bad gearing. Everyone I've known to have a tiburon say they should have bought a civic.<P>------------------<BR>Thanks,<BR>Teri<BR>'93 MX-3 SE soon to be a GSR<P>http://www.geocities.com/warmachinex0/MX-3GSSE.html

HA!<BR>Our trannies, like 99% of all front wheel drive transmissions, will take 15-20% of the engine's power to drive. <P>------------------<BR>David Coleman- <B><I>Moderator</B></I><BR><A HREF="http://www.PinkMX-3.com" TARGET=_blank>1993 Mazda MX-3 GS Special Edition</A><BR><B><A HREF="http://www.highlandsun.com/hyc/sae920677/" TARGET=_blank><I>V6 engine info</I></A> | <A HREF="http://www.bradbury.cwc.net/probemx/index.htm" TARGET=_blank>KL FAQ</A> | <I><A HREF="http://www.brownsword.ca/Probe.html" TARGET=_blank>ECU reprogramming</A></I> | <A HREF="http://members.home.net/tekguy/" TARGET=_blank>K series Image cache</A> | <I><A HREF="http://archive.probetalk.com/cgi-bin/se ... tion=intro" TARGET=_blank>Probetalk Archive Search</A></I></B>

Well, guys/gals, the 99 fx got beat by my 94 automatic I4 yesterday. Hell, it get beats everyday. My fiance has one and she likes it, but it isn't that fast, it stays with me, but then I fly away. Just letting ya know it doesn't take much to beat a tiburon fx. At least a 99 fx that is. But then my car has beaten tricked out civics, a porsche, hahaha, my dad was in the car and we were going about 90 on a 45. Ohh well, guess you just have to be lucky with the MX-3 cars. Some are good without doing anything in the engine area to them. That would be mine. just my 2cents.<P>------------------<BR>Mazda MX-3, Black, Automatic, 1994 I4

Re: mx-3 vs tiburon
Alot of people get Tiburons to be different. People are set on getting a new model car and have limited cash. It usually ends up between the Tibby and the Civic. Also Tiburons are cheap; like 17,000 for leather, aluminum trim, A/C, power everything, the works. Of course, that comes from Hyundai's bad rep and low resale value. Then again, that's why they have the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I think it's a good start for Hyundai trying to get a piece of sport compact performance and it's good for its image and appeal to younger drivers. The body style is aggressive, it has a Porsche-tuned suspension, and Hyundai has quite a rally car in it so I hear. Some people don't like how it looks; guess that's just personal preference. I think it looks pretty cool. Alot of people complain that it just looks fast, but really isn't fast at all. I guess that's true. But then again, you are starting with a 2.0L 140HP Beta engine, and the Tiburon has emerging aftermarket support. (I've seen a supercharger kit and a few turbo kits for it already...) Hopefully, they'll be able to get more support in the future. Also, I have heard plans of a V-6 Tibby and a convertible. (It was already redesigned in the 2000 model year.) So I wouldn't rule out the Tiburon just yet... Time will tell if Hyundai has a competitor in the sport compact market. Not trying to defend Tibby's from you guys, just letting you guys see both sides of the story.
