BAD TRANSMISSION....

Post by Guest »

I knew 2 things when I bought my 93 4cyl MX3 today: The 1st thing I knew was that for $1600, I was getting a great deal on this lovely red colored exterior and excellent interior gem........with a great engine......... The 2nd thing I also knew was that the transmission was no good.
So, now, I would like to ask you guys and gals if you could give me knowledge on about how much I'll be spending to buy a rebuilt transmission.

!Thanx for the info in advanced people!

Well thanks for the info about the Protege tranny........ but also is there anyone out there that can tell me what usually goes wrong with the transmission? I know that unfortunatly mx3's with automatics were cursed by Ford to used certain Ford Escort transmissions......... but besides that mx3s' are darn fine cars.

There are no Ford tranny in MX-3s. If you have an auto, and use a Protege AT, you may need the ATCM. Someone confirm this.

Hey Custommx3, thanx for the info about the tranny not being a Ford brand tranny. However, I read it from someone else on this board that it was a Ford tranny............ I thought I was doomed! But still, do you have any clue or any of you others guys, to why these transmissions don't last as long as the other overseas car companies such as Honda or Toyota? I keep hearing on this board how bad the trannys are............ is it a issue concerning if you're just being tough driving it hard....or is it in the way they were made in the begining....

Thanx guys for all the info so far............. you guys are the greatest!
