Post by Casino »

ok i doubt this is normal, my car goes from park to drive or reverse without having to have your foot on the brake.

You're right that's not normal. There are a few things you can check but before getting into any of em, first check your fuse block under the dash. Specifically, check the 20A fuse labeled STOP. Blown fuse is most likely reason for the prob.

Next in order of progression:

1) Brake switch might be malfunctioning by remaining in "ON" state- adjust or replace (located under driver side dash under steering column

2) Shift-lock actuator might be malfunctioning (located under shift bezel along right side of shifter)

Try the fuse & see if that does it. If fuse needs replacing and then blows a 2nd time, you'll need to figure out where the short is of course.

Hope that helps...
